2.3 Determining Which BB is Faulting

Written by Ollie Wells

Symptoms:

  • General system malfunction suspected to be caused by a faulty Battery Block.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  • Connect the batteries, one at a time, to the trunk harness from the top-down. Check the app/Grafana for faults on the newly connected BB before plugging in more batteries.

  • Note: If you do not want to do this top-down connection process then you have to use up to three loopback plugs on the trunk harness to maintain battery communications. Using the top-down method removes the need for the loop-back plug.

  • Turn the rotary switch OFF.

  • Disconnect all BBs from the trunk harness.

  • The first BB connected to the trunk harness needs to be the top BB, closest to the INV.

  • Turn the rotary switch ON and observe if the system goes active.

    1. If Yes: Connect the next block in sequence to the trunk harness.

    2. If No: The recently connected BB is faulting and preventing normal system operation.

  • Repeat this process until all four BBs have been checked for faults.
