2.6 BB stuck in Bootloader

Symptoms:

  • Battery is not communicating, usually after a FW update.

What is the failure behind the fault?

  • The BBs can sometimes be stuck in Bootloader after a FW update.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check Grafana to see if the Can Device Status panel is showing any active bootloaders. Open the Grafana site view and navigate to the DCDC section. Any devices stuck in bootloader will show with the BOOTLOADER_ACTIVE signal.

  2. Reach out to T3. They will use the BootCommander tool to recover the BB.

Note: If the BB is stuck in bootloader for ~15 minutes or more it will go into Hibernate. While in hibernate, the BB cannot be recovered with Boot Commander. The BB needs to be woken up first by toggling the ESS breaker in the Bridge (Turn breaker off > wait 30s > turn breaker on) or using the Gridshare command "Wake Up DCDCs From Hibernation" found on the INV device Gridshare page. Then the BOOTLOADER_ACTIVE signal should return on the Can Device Status panel in Grafana, and the BB can be recovered with Boot Commander.
