8.1 Troubleshooting for Low Vdc

Written by Ollie Wells

Symptoms:

  • Low DC voltage readings.

Troubleshooting Steps (At a Single Maximizer):

  1. Ensure PV panel is plugged in to inputs (short leads).

  2. Measure and record output voltage of single maximizer: e.g. .383 Vdc.

  3. Unplug PV panel from inputs.

  4. Wait 30 seconds.

  5. Measure and record output voltage of single maximizer: e.g. .001 Vdc.

  6. Plug PV panel back in.

  7. Measure and record output voltage of single maximizer: e.g. .349 Vdc.

Troubleshooting Steps (After Array/String Rebuild and Checklist Measurements):

  • Assuming unhealthy values are still present:

  • Unplug the PV home runs, such that the Hub is connected to the inverter, but the Hub is not connected to the Maximizer string.

  • Scan the Maximizer QR codes.

  • Turn the rotary switch ON (a standby plan should have been sent through Gridshare already).

  • Confirm we have Hub comms.

  • Confirm if we have Maximizer comms.
