SGIP Monitoring Plan for Lunar Systems

System Description
The Lunar System is composed of: (1) Lunar ESS — a hybrid inverter and stack of DC battery blocks; (2) Lunar Maximizers — module-level DC-DC controllers optimizing production of every solar panel; and (3) Lunar Bridge — a microgrid interconnection device that automatically detects outages and seamlessly transitions between grid and island. Powered by Lunar AI software, the system maximizes solar consumption, reduces utility bills, optimizes VPP earnings, and delivers seamless backup.
Intended Applications
For SGIP projects: Lunar AI — Utility rate optimization (TOU and NBT rate arbitrage). This ensures compliance with ITC operational requirements and confirms the system is charged at least 75% from renewables per SGIP requirements.
Note: Backup Only mode (100% battery SOC) is not recommended for SGIP projects.
Metering System
The Lunar Inverter monitors: DC production from PV, battery state of charge (SOC), battery charge/discharge power, and inverter AC power. The Lunar Bridge measures power consumption in/out of the Bridge (grid import and export for whole-home backup). For partial home backup, optional Rogowski Coils (CTs) are attached to the main service panel to measure grid import/export and calculate total home consumption.
Data is stored in the inverter and regularly uploaded to the cloud via built-in cellular, Wi-Fi, or ethernet. Data is accessible through the Lunar Gridshare fleet monitoring platform via web browser.

System Operation
When pairing with on-site renewable generators, Lunar systems are set to PCS Export Only mode, meaning the system charges exclusively from PV (except during extreme weather events or critical battery maintenance). This complies with ITC operational requirements and allows metering data to verify the system is charged from renewables per SGIP requirements.
